Impact of Globalization on Quantity Surveying Firms in Nigeria in the Era of Construction 5.0

ABSTRACT
Construction Industry is experiencing a shift with the advent of Construction 5.0, a paradigm shift that combines cutting-edge technologies with human-centric innovation, sustainability and digital transformation. This research explores impact of globalization on Quantity Surveying (QS) in Nigeria, focusing on his alignment with Construction 5.0. The objectives includes assessing the impact of globalization on practicing quantity surveyors, and examining how it shapes the operations and strategies of QS firms. A set questionnaire was administered to QSs across selected firms in Lagos state, with a high response rate (87.5%) from diverse locations Including Ikeja, Marina and surulere. Analysis was performed using frequency tables, Mean Item Scores (MIS) and severity indices. Results shows that globalization significantly affect QSF with the average severity index percentage being 74.41% and growth in ICT is ranked first with MIS of 4.33 while Loss of professional bodies was ranked least with 2.86 in assessing the effect of globalization on QS. The research reveals that the QS professionals in the Nigerian construction industry should emulate global best practices to stay competitive in the Construction 5.0 era. Future studies should be extended geographically to provide wider insights.
