The Journal of Construction expands its Editorial Team
The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that it has expanded the Editorial team of the Journal of Construction. The inclusion of Prof Claudia Loggia and Dr Amanda Vester as Assistant Editors demonstrates the commitment of ASOCSA to transformation and gender equity while at the same time ensuring that the journal is led by a highly qualified team of editors. Prof Theo Haupt, the founding editor, remains as the Overseeing Editor.
Prof Claudia Loggia is Associate Professor in Housing at the School of Social Sciences, University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban. She holds a PhD and a MSc Eng in Building Engineering. Claudia has extensive experience in trans-disciplinary research projects and consultancy work in the areas of energy efficient building design and retrofit, green infrastructure, sustainable urban regeneration, informal settlements upgrading. She is currently leading a research project funded by NRF in collaboration with ETH Zurich, aimed at Re-engineering informal construction through circular practices and models. Claudia is a Green Star South Africa Accredited Professional with the Green Building Council of South Africa (GBCSA) and a (National Research Foundation) NRF C-rated researcher.
Dr Amanda Vester is an interdisciplinary researcher and academic based at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Cape Town with a strong background in project and programme management, whose work focuses on the integration of digital technologies across industry contexts. Through her published research, she contributes to ongoing discourse on how technological frameworks can support more efficient, transparent, and environmentally responsible industry practices. Amanda is committed to fostering rigorous, interdisciplinary scholarship that advances digital innovation and sustainability transitions within the construction sector.
The editorial team of Prof Haupt, Prof Loggia and Dr Vester is excited to support the efforts of researchers primarily in South Africa but also further afield. One of its strategic objectives is convert the current time-consuming manual submission and review process to one that is streamlined and digital without compromising on quality standards. During this transition period submissions may still be made to joc@asocsa.org
The board is confident that this revitalized editorial team will enhance the growth, visibility and reputation of the Journal of Construction which is on the list of journals approved by the Department of Higher Education and Training for subsidy.
